Museums

Squa-squa! If you want to truly understand Procida — not just admire it — the museums are the right door. The Abbey of San Michele holds artworks, 16th-century manuscripts and even an underground ossuary. The Palazzo d'Avalos, once a Bourbon prison, is open for guided visits and is a piece of history waiting to be explored. And then there's the Casa di Graziella Museum in Terra Murata: a reconstructed 19th-century home, with a sea view, dedicated to the heroine of Lamartine's novel. Kraak! Here history isn't behind glass — it's in the air.

Arturo is just a seagull, so take what he says with a grain of salt and always double-check the facts.
