Books about Procida

Squa-squa! Procida inspired great writers long before the tourists arrived. Alphonse de Lamartine set his novel Graziella here in the 1800s, a love story born from a real stay on the island. Elsa Morante wrote L'isola di Arturo in 1957 — winner of the Premio Strega — and actually lived here, at the old Pensione Eldorado in Sant'Antuono. Even Boccaccio set one of his Decameron tales on this island. Kraak! These books don't just describe a place — they describe a soul.

Arturo is just a seagull, so take what he says with a grain of salt and always double-check the facts.
