Sant'Antonio Abate

Kraak! At the beginning of Via Cavour, along Via Vittorio Emanuele, you’ll find a church that seems to greet you as you pass by: the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate, built in 1606. It stands there among the island streets, like a sail shaped by time.
Criii! Inside, the structure is simple and clear: a single central nave — one main open space — with side chapels along the walls. At the end, the main altar stands out, decorated with polychrome marble — marble in different colors — created in the 18th century. A sight that lingers, like sunlight on the sea.
Squa-squa! Separating the area for the faithful from the presbytery — the space around the altar — is a balustrade, a decorative railing, crafted with carved lesenes, flat columns with raised details. Have you noticed how small details can carry far, like a breeze across water?
Kraak! And just to the left of the main altar, you’ll find the statue of Saint Anthony Abbot, kept there like a steady point, like a lighthouse for those who enter. Have you taken a moment to look at it, while outside the wind keeps moving the island?
