San Vincenzo

Kraak! In the heart of the island, along Via Vittorio Emanuele, in the area of San Giacomo, you’ll find a small yet historic church: the Church of San Vincenzo, built in 1571. It stands quietly, like a moored boat that has witnessed every tide of time.

Criii! This church is home to the Archconfraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, also known as the “Bianchi” — named after the white garments they wear. A white that recalls sails stretched under the sun.

Squa-squa! The Archconfraternity of the Bianchi is the oldest confraternity on Procida — meaning a group of devoted members united by faith — and it was founded in 1583 by Cardinal Innico d’Avalos d’Aragona. Did you know history here still walks among the people?

Kraak! They are the ones who organize, at sunset on Holy Thursday, the evocative procession of the twelve Hooded Apostles. As the sun sets and the sky turns the color of the sea at dusk, they move in silence. Have you ever seen something that speaks without words?
